Privacy Policy · Smokido

This page is written in English as the English-language version of Smokido's official privacy policy. The original French version is the legal document prepared under French law and the GDPR.

This Privacy Policy explains how the Smokido application processes information related to its use.

Smokido was designed according to a privacy-by-default principle: the vast majority of the information entered in the application remains stored locally on the user's device and is not sent to a Smokido server.

Smokido is a wellbeing support application intended to help users gradually reduce their cigarette consumption, track their habits and replace certain cravings with alternative activities.

Smokido is not a medical device, does not provide a medical diagnosis and does not replace the advice, diagnosis or treatment of a healthcare professional.

2. Data used by Smokido

Depending on the features used, Smokido may process locally on your device information such as:

This information is used solely to operate the Smokido features you have chosen.

3. Data relating to smoking and wellbeing

Certain information entered in Smokido may concern your tobacco consumption habits, your behaviour or your wellbeing.

Depending on the context, this information may be considered sensitive personal data or health-related data.

Smokido does not transmit this data to a server belonging to Smokido or to its publisher.

It remains on your device and is used in particular to:

Smokido does not use this information for advertising, commercial profiling or resale purposes.

4. Local storage

Smokido's main data is stored locally on your device.

Smokido does not require the creation of a user account and currently has no remote database intended to store your personal history.

This means in particular that the publisher of Smokido:

Local information remains on the device until you delete it, reset the application data or uninstall the application, subject to the specific behaviour of your device's operating system.

On Android, a copy of this data may be included in the operating system's automatic backup mechanism, which belongs to the user's Google account and is under their control. Smokido has no access to this backup, which is neither hosted nor consulted by the publisher.

5. No Smokido account

Smokido does not currently require the creation of a personal account.

There is therefore no Smokido account holding your history in an online database.

Consequently, no "Smokido account" deletion procedure is necessary in the current version of the application.

You can nevertheless delete the local data directly from the functions provided in the application or by removing the application from your device.

Should an account or online synchronisation feature be added later, this Policy would be updated before it is used.

6. Data export and backup

Smokido may allow the user to export certain information or summaries, in particular as a JSON file, a PDF or shareable content.

These operations are triggered only at the user's request.

Smokido does not automatically upload these files to a Smokido server.

When you choose to share a file using your device's sharing system, you yourself select the application or service to which you wish to send it.

From that point on, the processing of the file may be subject to the terms and privacy policy of the third-party service chosen by the user.

7. Notifications

Smokido may send local notifications such as reminders or encouragement messages.

These notifications are scheduled and managed on your device.

Smokido does not currently use a remote push notification service for these reminders.

You can refuse or disable notifications at any time in your device settings or in the settings available in Smokido.

8. Smokido Premium subscriptions and payments

Smokido offers Premium features accessible by subscription.

On Android, purchases and subscriptions are processed by Google Play Billing.

Smokido does not collect and has no access to:

Google Play processes payments directly in accordance with its own terms and privacy rules.

The application receives from Google Play technical information relating to the subscription (status, start and expiry dates, amount, currency, trial period) enabling it to determine whether Smokido Premium is active and to unlock the corresponding features. This information remains local on your device and is not transmitted to any Smokido server.

The Android subscription product currently used is smokido_premium. The purchase is triggered via the native Google Play dialog.

Smokido does not currently use any third-party subscription validation server such as RevenueCat or Iaptic and has no Smokido backend to retain purchase receipts. Premium status is determined locally from the information provided by Google Play to the device.

9. Third-party services

In its current configuration, Smokido does not integrate any advertising service or behavioural analytics platform intended to track users.

Smokido does not currently use:

Google Play is involved solely in the distribution of the application and in Android subscriptions.

Google Play, as a distribution platform, may process certain technical diagnostics (for example relating to the stability or performance of the application) in accordance with its own rules. This processing is carried out by Google and is not a collection performed by Smokido.

Any data processed directly by Google is governed by Google's own privacy policies and terms.

10. Advertising and tracking

Smokido does not display third-party advertising in the application.

Smokido does not sell your personal data.

Smokido does not transmit your cigarette consumption history to advertisers.

Smokido does not use your smoking-related data to create advertising profiles or to carry out advertising targeting.

11. Security

Smokido is designed to limit the circulation of personal data by favouring local storage.

No method of digital storage can, however, guarantee absolute security.

The security of your local data also depends on the security of your device and, where applicable, on the automatic backup associated with your Google account (see section 4). We recommend in particular that you protect your phone with a PIN, a password, a fingerprint or another appropriate locking mechanism.

The CNIL points out that a health application storing information mainly locally must nevertheless apply minimum security measures appropriate to the privacy risk.

12. Deletion of data

You retain control of the information stored locally in Smokido.

Depending on the functions available in the application, you can in particular:

The reset function erases all of your personal and journey data (profile, consumption history, statistics, recorded activities). By design choice, the language and the display theme, which do not constitute personal data, are kept by default so that you do not lose these display preferences alone.

Uninstalling the application normally deletes the associated local application data, subject to any backup or restore mechanisms specific to the operating system or the device.

Smokido does not keep a copy of your personal history on a Smokido server.

To delete your data from the application: open Settings → Reset my data, then confirm. If you would like help with this, or if you are unable to delete your data yourself, contact us at support@tamarisjournal.com — we can guide you, bearing in mind that as this data remains strictly local, we ourselves have no remote access to it.

13. Retention period

Data stored locally is retained for as long as it remains present in the application on your device.

It may be deleted when:

The messages you choose to send to support are retained only for the time necessary to handle your request and to comply with any applicable administrative or legal obligations.

14. Contacting support

If you contact Smokido by email, we receive the information you voluntarily choose to send us, for example:

This information is used solely to handle your request, reply to you, resolve a problem or ensure service follow-up.

We recommend that you do not send by email any medical or health information that is not necessary for your request.

15. Your rights

Depending on the applicable legislation, in particular the General Data Protection Regulation where it applies, you may have rights concerning your personal data, in particular the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction and, in certain situations, objection or portability.

For data stored exclusively locally in Smokido, the publisher does not hold a remote copy to access: it is managed directly from the application or from your device.

For data you send us directly, for example during an exchange with support, you can address your request to: support@tamarisjournal.com

You may also refer the matter to the competent data protection authority if you consider that your rights have not been respected.

16. Minimum age and intended audience

Smokido is restricted to users aged 18 and over.

The application is not intended for minors and does not seek to collect personal data concerning them.

In accordance with the declaration made in Google Play Console ("Target audience and content" section), access to Smokido is limited to users identified as adults by Google Play; users identified as minors cannot access the application from the Play Store.

If you believe that a minor has nevertheless used Smokido, or that information concerning them has been entered in the application, you can contact us at support@tamarisjournal.com so that the local data concerned is deleted from the device.

17. Nature of the service

Smokido is a tool for supporting habit change and wellbeing.

The information, estimates, projections, advice or content offered in the application are provided for information purposes and do not constitute:

In the event of a health problem, significant dependence, unusual symptoms or a medical question, the user must consult a qualified healthcare professional.

Google considers applications that allow users to track their health, wellbeing or progress as potentially falling within the Health Apps categories; Smokido must therefore faithfully declare its health/wellbeing features in Play Console.

18. Transfer and sale of data

Smokido does not sell the data relating to your use of the application.

The smoking-related personal data stored locally is not transferred by Smokido to data brokers, advertisers or commercial partners.

When a user themselves chooses to export or share a file, they decide on the recipient and the third-party service used.

19. Changes to this Policy

This Policy may be updated if Smokido evolves, in particular if the following are added:

Any new version will state its update date.

If a significant change affects the way personal data is used, appropriate information will be provided to users where necessary.
